In MT4 and MT5 desktop, Exposure summarizes currencies or other assets associated with the open positions in the trading account currently connected to the platform. It can help you review concentration across several symbols. This is an account-level display, not a combined view of your other trading accounts or wallets. FXTRADING.com App and Web Trader have their own interfaces.
What the Exposure Tab Shows:
Currency Volumes: Displays the total volume of each currency you're exposed to
Buy/Sell Information: Shows how much and what kind of currencies were bought or sold with leverage
Consolidated View: Summarizes exposure across all your open positions in one view
Risk Assessment: Helps identify overexposure to specific currencies
Understanding the MT4 columns
Asset — identifies the currency or symbol being summarized.
Volume — shows the position amount in units, taking leverage into account; it is not simply a count of lots.
Rate — gives the conversion rate between that asset and the account currency.
Deposit Currency — shows the amount in account currency, excluding leverage. It is not a statement of your withdrawable balance.
Graph — compares the displayed exposure; blue bars represent long positions and red bars represent short positions.
How do I access the exposure tab?
Open your MT4/MT5 platform
In MT4, open the Terminal window. In MT5, open the Toolbox window. These windows are normally below the charts.
Click on the "Exposure" tab
Review the exposure for the currently connected account, then compare it with the open positions in the Trade tab. Several currency pairs may share exposure to the same currency.
MT5 adapts its asset display to the account’s margin model, so do not expect every MT4 column or calculation to appear identically in MT5. The figures describe trading exposure, not money received into a wallet or proof of ownership of the underlying currencies. Offsetting currency exposure does not remove every risk, margin requirement or trading cost. Viewing this tab does not modify a position or automatically diversify your account; review positions and the account’s margin information separately.
